ASDIC Decolonization Retreat - February 13 and 14, 2010

Name of Event: ASDIC Decolonization Retreat

Type of Event: Antiracism/Decolonization dialogue, study, reflection.

Brief Description of Event: We offer to antiracist activists an opportunity to reflect on issues the impact of colonization from multiple perspectives. This is an advanced dialogue, study, reflection on the colonizer and colonized (internalized superiority and internalized oppression). Our discussions shall center on the Albert Memmi text and short readings from Fanon, Indigenous Peoples, and decolonization literature. The concepts and dialogue are intended to be substantial but the language simple. We will meet at the Benedictine Center in Maplewood, Feb 13 and 14, Saturday 10a.m. start, Sunday 4 p.m. end. 

Registration fee of $85 covers directs costs (space, lodging, meals, text, copied materials). Scholarships are available--need based. We can accommodate up to 20 people for lodgings. Registration is limited to 25.
