In Minnesota, we take pride in our belief that all people have opportunities to become successful. Yet people of color, who make up the fastest growing members of our population, are more likely to live in poverty; less likely to graduate from high school; less likely to own their own home; and more likely to suffer from chronic illness.
Racism, both current and historical, plays a part in these disparities. Minnesota Compass and The Saint Paul Foundation are pleased to announce the launch of a racial equity resource directory that can assist organizations and individuals take action to end racism.
The America Healing initiative was created by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. The initiative's mission is to support programs that promote racial healing and address racial inequity. Children of color are over-represented among the 29 million low-income children and families in this country, particularly among families living in areas of concentrated poverty.
They are less likely to attend high- quality schools, live healthy lives and eat nutritious food. The goal of this unprecedented effort is to ensure that all children in America have an equitable and promising future.
